China Delegation quits Tokyo International Film Festival

Head of China Delegation of actors and actresses, vice chairman of China Film Group Corporation, Mr. Ping Jiang announced early today (25, October, 2010) that China Delegation quit this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF).

As Mr. Jiang said in his formal announcement in the film festival, he felt very sorry for the decision, but it was a must.  He said the reason for this action was that the Organizing Committee of TIFF had incorrectly put the names of China mainland delegation and Taiwan province delegation separately as China and Taiwan on the brochure, which violated the territorial integrity of the country. He also said the Organizing Committee told him this was mistakenly printed.

“But when the  actors and actresses from mainland  China and Taiwan province began walking along Green Carpet, the  comperes again  introduced them in the wrong titles,” Mr. Jiang said,” and they(comperes) refuse to change the titles.”

“The green carpet represents a good meaning of peace,” he added.

Following yesterday’s report by BBC Chinese, both China mainland delegation and Taiwan province delegation did not attend Green Carpet.

Vivian Hsu, famous actress and singer from Taiwan province, was weeping when she knew she could not make Green Carpet.
